FURIA vs PAIN GAMING

FURIA and paiN Gaming met in the opening round of Group B on Wednesday, when FURIA won with a reverse sweep. PaiN took the lead on Nuke with 13-7, but collapsed in the second half on Overpass and lost 6-13, winning just one round on T-side.

The game came down to the decider on Mirage, which looked promising for paiN, but they ran out of steam and lost 11-13. It was a valiant effort from the Brazilian squad, who have since defeated TYLOO and swept Passion UA in the quarterfinals.

FURIA, on the other side, bested Team Vitality in the Group B winners’ match and have since not played a game. Both teams have been playing well. While FURIA deserve more respect as the recently crowned Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu champions, paiN have been holding their weight.

If the last clash between these two teams is any indication, paiN should be good for one map.

TEAM FALCONS vs TEAM VITALITY

Team Falcons cruised through Group A, beating Team Spirit and Passion UA without dropping a single map. However, they had some close calls. Spirit forced the Falcons to overtime on Dust II, while Passion UA won 11 and 10 rounds on Train and Mirage, respectively.

Even though the Falcons haven’t been dominant in their victories, they are now 11-2 from their last 13 outings and in excellent shape.

Team Vitality edged past Team Spirit in the semifinals, thanks to a strong performance from Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and
Robin “ropz” Kool, who led the charge with 1.28 and 1.11 performance ratings, respectively. That victory now bumps up Vitality to 2-1 this tournament, after an unconvincing 2-1 victory against TYLOO and a 1-2 loss against FURIA in the group stage.

Vitality haven’t been in the best shape lately. While they have managed to get the job done and even made IEM Chengdu finals, their form is lacking. Even though Team Vitality swept Team Falcons 3-0 in ESL Pro League Season 22 finals, they’ve not looked convincing over the last three series.
