What is the Gamers8 Fortnite tournament
Fortnite will return to the Gamers8 festival for a second year after a successful inaugural showing at the festival in Saudi Arabia last year. Last year the Saudi Esports Federation gave the tournament a $1 million prize pool; however, with the rise in prize money across the board for all esports titles, the Fortnite event prize pool has been doubled to $2 million this year.
The 2023 Gamers8 Fortnite event will be a little bit different to last year, as most of the Duos that will compete in Riyadh had to qualify through DreamHack events in North America and Europe. All three of DreamHack San Diego, DreamHack Dallas and DreamHack Jonkoping gave the top 10 duos a direct invite into the Gamers8 tournament. Defending champions Danila “Malibuca” Yakovenko and Shane “EpikWhale” Cotton will return to defend their title; however, they will not play together at this years event.
